Celebrate a wedding, an anniversary, a birthday by booking a once in a lifetime experience. Book a private villa for you and your family or friends, select a beautiful lodge or camp, get back to basics with fly-camping or go on a mobile safari. Fly in your own Pilatus PC 12 (a nine seater jet-like single-engine turboprop), a plane perfectly geared to landing on remote and awkward landing strips, to the best destinations in Africa. Alternatively, we can book you on scheduled flights or hire your own safari vehicle with driver/guide. Your safari can be as long and complicated as you like or a simple two night stay in an amazing location. Here are a few suggestions.
Kiba Point, Sand River Selous, Tanzania
Kiba Point is a private camp in the Selous, for a family or a group of friends. It's set baqck off the river with four large bedrooms, each with its own plunge pool. There is also a large pool in the communal area where you can hang out in comfortable sofas and catch up with your companions in complete privacy. The camp has its own team of guides and staff, who will help you plan your day. Take a slow boat cruise down the river, go for a walk, game-view in a safari vehicle or have a swim in the hot springs.
Pamushana Lodge, Zimbabwe
This is one of the most beautiful and remote safari lodges in Africa, tucked away in the south-east of Zimbabwe. The lodge is set on a hill with views of the valley below. The lodge nestles amongst rocks and boabab trees. Each cottage is beautifully decorated with bold geometric colors and has a deck and plunge pool with beautiful views. The communal area has a large swimming pool, where you can enjoy afternoon tea and candle-lit dinners. Activities include game-viewing, tennis and archery.
Little Mombo Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana
This camp has the reputation of being the best camp for game-viewing in Africa. Little Mombo Camp is situated on Mombo Island, adjoining the northern tip of Chief's Island within the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta. It is a small and intimate camp, perfect for small groups, connected to Mombo Camp, via a walkway. Little Mombo Camp has three luxurious, spacious rooms under canvas with en-suite bathrooms and outdoor showers. There is a communal area for meals and to enjoy the view or take a dip in the pool. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives. Expect to see lions, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, spotted hyena, large herds of buffalo, elephant, white rhino, southern giraffe, blue wildebeest and Burchell's zebra.
Mnemba Island, Zanzibar
Mnemba Island Lodge, a short boat ride from Zanzibar. With only ten luxurious palm-frond bandas hidden in a tropical beach forest fringed by a white beach, the emphasis is on privacy and barefoot luxury. Toss aside your valuables, lose your shoes and wander around the island, say "hello" to the odd suni antelope. Swim in the warm ocean or snorkel from shore. Alternatively, take a boat trip to snorkel or scuba dive in the Mnemba Marine Conservation area.
Fly-camping, Selous, Tanzania
Head off on foot and set up camp in the middle of nowhere, accompanied by an armed ranger. This is not about walking long distances, but more about being in the bush, giving you the chance to really engage your senses. You will sleep in a mosquito net enclosure on a bedroll, will have great food and a night that you will never forget.
Chongwe River House, Lower Zambezi, Zambia
This unusual looking house, on the Chongwe River, close to the Zambezi, is available for a small private group of eight in four spacious ensuite rooms. The property comes fully staffed. Activities include game drives, walking and boating. This is a great venue for a celebratory safari.
