Zambia - 11 days
- The exact itinerary and cost will depend on availability and time of year. Maximum - 8 guests; minimum - 6.
Zambia is a wonderful safari destination, with smaller more intimate camps, often owner-operated and without large tour groups and hotel chains. Unlike most other African countries, Zambian national parks allow walking and night game drives, which adds an extra dimension to your safari experience. The people are friendly and the infra-structure is good.
Day 1: Meet and assist at Lusaka airport.
Road transfer to Latitude 15 hotel - 1 night. This is a fabulous hotel on the outskirts of Lusaka. It has a great spa if you want a massage after your international flight or some exercise in their gym or one of their two swimming pools. Enjoy dinner on the verandah (at your expense).
Day 2: Road transfer to Lusaka airport.
Scheduled flight Lusaka-Mfuwe (South Luangwa National Park)
Transfer by road to Nkwali - 2 nights. This is a lovely camp set amongst the trees and on the South Luangwa River. The swimming pool overlooks a small pond with a resident hippo (he’s tried to join up with the others in the river, but returns with battle scars – hippos are very territorial and don’t welcome strangers!)
Day 4: Transfer by road to Tafika Camp - 2 nights. This charming little camp set under enormous trees, on the banks of the Luangwa River is owner operated and really in the middle of nowhere. The huts are rebuilt every year out of thatch and are open to the elements. The camp offers walking and mountain biking in addition to day time and night time safari vehicle game viewing. Testament to the success of this camp is that 25% of their guests are repeats and one couple is returning for their twelfth visit!
Day 6: Scheduled flight Mfuwe-Jeki (Lower Zambezi National Park)
Transfer by vehicle or boat to Chongwe River Camp - 3 nights. This is the prettiest camp I’ve been to in Zambia - on a tributary of the great Zambezi River, with elephants or hippo grazing nearby and the escarpment over to the west. Boating on the Zambezi river and canoeing on one of the small inlets is offered in addition to game (night and day) drives and walks.
Day 9: Scheduled flight from Jeki to Livingstone airport (Victoria Falls)
Road transfer to Toka Leya Camp - 2 nights. This very fine camp is set on the banks of the Zambezi River in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, 5 km from Livingstone. It is owned by Wilderness safaris, who are making an enormous contribution to conservation throughout Africa. Two activities a day include a choice of a river cruise on one of their boats, a game drive into the Mosi-oa Tunya National Park, a tour to the Zambian side of the Falls, a tour of Livingstone town and museum and a visit to a nearby village and local curio shops.
Day 11: Road transfer to Livingstone airport for onward arrangements.
Scheduled flights and airport departure taxes.
Latitude 15 hotel: bed and breakfast only.
South Luangwa National Park and Lower Zambezi: full board and accommodation, all game viewing activities, laundry, park fees and domestic levies, drinks, airport and inter-camp transfers.
Toka Leya: full board and accommodation, twice daily scheduled camp activities, park fees, laundry, all local drinks (excludes premium imported brands and champagne).
International flights, visa fees for entry into Zambia, gratuities and items of a personal nature, premium drinks. At Toka Leya, Falls entry fees and museum entry fees.

Balance of payment (non-refundable) 60 days before departure.
